Hey, whoever reading this right now. Do you know few months back I went to a trip to Thailand which I wanted to do earlier in the year, but it got cancelled at that time because I believe I discussed it too much. But then one day in October, I was exploring flights prices towards multiple locations and my eyes caught the complete steal deal to Thailand. So, without discussing it much I booked the tickets and got the cashback using my credit card 😎. A round trip between Lucknow (LKO) and Thailand (DMK) costed me around 18,000 INR on economy flight of Air Asia and yes, I paid extra for Window Seat, so ha-ha to the couple sitting beside me who didn’t while I was returning😂
Well, my trip was supposed to be of 9 days, but AirAsia gave me one extra day by rescheduling my returning flight to next day.
Before leaving for Thailand, I decided to cover as much as I can, but I didn’t plan much, yes, I had cities in mind which I wanted to visit but nothing more than that.
The day I was leaving for Thailand it was raining really bad in Lucknow and since it was first time I was taking a flight; I was so excited that I didn’t care about the fact that I was completely wet when I entered the Airport until their AC started giving me chills.
One good thing was Lucknow Railway station had the direct metro to Airport which I really appreciated as it was cheap and fastest way to reach there.
Upon reaching Lucknow Airport I didn’t knew from where I am supposed to enter the Airport. But somehow, I figured it out, but they should put better labels on the Life, I thought it’s for staff.
Now the currency conversion time, I did some research before reaching that Airport is the worst place to get currency converted but I didn’t have many choices, because the weather was bad out there and the vendor, I had conversation within Market was closing early that day. So, I reached out to the shop at Airport for currency conversion, after some bargaining, I got the 10,000 BAHT for 29,000 INR which was 3,000 more than market rate but I had to get it as I also heard that they check at the Airport if I am carrying enough cash or not.
After collecting my currency, I waited for few hours in waiting area and went to pee several times, Thanks to my wet T-shirt and Chilly AC. And then I saw that AirAsia counter is open now and people started collecting their Boarding Passes, so I went there, they asked for my hotels booking, which I had already made for few days on HostelWorld (and I got the student discount there hehehee) after checking all those things they gave me my boarding pass which I realized is the same one I had my in App 💀 (Time wasted successfully).
Well after grabbing my boarding pass, I asked if I could go for security check and passport verification now, for which they said yes.
I reached the Passport verification counter, uncle at the counter told me “Beta, there is still time for your flight and verification is not started yet“. After which I realized I can’t leave that area now because I already scanned my boarding pass. So, I waited and had some uncles working there asking me “Why are you standing here?” after some chit-chat my flight announcements were made, and people started queuing up for Passport Verification.
Passport verification counter uncle again asked if I am carrying enough cash, I told him with attitude “I am carrying 10,000 Baht and few thousands in Bank and a credit card” and then uncle asked me for my return flight tickets for which I had print outs just in case my mobile deceives me, he then checked my hotel bookings and stamped my passport. Woooooohooooo.
Now I passed through the security scan and went directly to Antartica because it was so much freezing in that zone, and everyone started wearing warm clothes while all I had was summer beach clothes. So, I started looking for a place where I can feel the cold least and trust me it was the bathroom which saved me. I had my dinner there and I tried to eat healthy for some strange reason.
My flight started boarding after 10 minutes of delay because they were deep cleaning it. Staff of AirAsia is very sweet and helping even after knowing it’s the cheapest flight. Because from what I heard of other economy flights I had completely different picture in mind.
After everyone was boarded our Captain ended the announcement with “Jai Shree Ram” (pretty cool huh?) everyone started Wooing out of excitement, felt like I was not the only one travelling for the first time in Flight.
